Laurent Bayle, founder of the Philharmonie de Paris, is currently the president of the Biennales de Lyon and the Les Arts Florissants-William Christie foundation.

After creating the Musica festival in Strasbourg, dedicated to contemporary musical creation, he worked alongside composer Pierre Boulez and succeeded him in the 1990s as head of IRCAM, the music research institute affiliated with the Pompidou Center.

He then simultaneously directed the Cité de la Musique and the Salle Pleyel, while embarking on the construction of the Philharmonie de Paris, which was inaugurated in 2015 and led by him until the end of 2021.
